Graduating from the Plzeň Conservatory under Professor Ludmila Kotnauerová in 1997, Ms Jana Horáková Levicová was later a private student of Professor Jiří Kotouč, participating in interpretation classes of Italian mezzosoprano Gloria Banditelli. Currently she co-operated with doc. Katarína Bachmannová. From 1996 to 1998 she was a member of the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Plzeň, West Czech Republic. Since 2002 the mezzo has worked with Camerata Nova, singing in concert performances of Baroque operas such as Handel’s Rinaldo (Mago Christiano), and Samson (Micah), Astarto by G. Bononcini (Astarto); also, she performed Gluck’s Ezio (Ezio) and Mozart’s La Betulia Liberata with the Prague Symphonic Orchestra under Jakub Hrůša.

Her participation in 2006 in the French Baroque Academy in Ambronay resulted in performances as Deianira in Cavalli’s Ercole amante. The singer performed this role under conductor Gabriel Garrido to great acclaim in Paris, Toulon, Reims, Vichy and Besançon. Since 2009, the mezzo has been a regular guest at the Prague National Theatre, singing Annina in Verdi’s La traviata, and the roles of Archangel Gabriel, Mother of God, Blacksmith’s Daughter, and the Foolish Virgin in The Miracles of Mary by Bohuslav Martinů, under conductor Jiří Bělohlávek.
